Red Velvet Layer Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
Oh my God this cake. I woke up today craving red velvet so I trolled through your red velvet tag until I came across this. I love the article. It had easy to follow directions, although they were very precise. The author gave well reasoned explanations for these little nuances though and it really showed in the final product.
I, of course, fudged it up (and not in the yummy way). Recipe calls for 1 stick of butter for the cake and another for the frosting and both need to sit out and get to room temp so I did that. Then guess how many sticks I put in the cake? Yep. Two. And I didn’t even realize it until the cake was in the oven and I was trying to make the frosting.
It turned out pretty good. Really rich in butter flavor. *facepalm*
