I’ve seen a couple of asks about how to use they/them pronouns so here’s my explanation.
Think of it this way:
They is used where you could use she or he.
Ex; they are really cute vs. he is really cute
Their is used where you could use her or his.
Ex; their cat is black vs. his cat is black
Them is used where you could use her or him.
Ex; say hi to them for me vs. say hi to her for me
They’re is used where you could use she’s or he’s.
Ex; they’re coming over to my house later vs. she’s coming over to my house later
Also remember that when you’re using they/them pronouns that they are plural rather than singular.
Ex; they are vs. he is or they were vs. she was
(I only included she and he pronouns as part of the example because most people are comfortable with how to use them, I’m not trying to say that other pronouns don’t exist.)
