that is not correct. Spongebob is so clearly white coded i’m blinded by his paleness every episode. Spongebob tans, he is blonde with blue eyes, he lives in a pineapple under the sea and hangs out with well known country racist Sandy the Squirrel. this isn’t anti-blackness, it’s plain racism. we see more examples of Spongebob’s white privilege as he is able to avoid being arrested for his crimes
Can we please not play the erasure game?
Both of Spongebob’s parents are clearly coded as black, with his mother being a mixed race woman. Spongebob is clearly white passing but white passing does not equal white.
