God, it really pisses me off that people on tumblr are all like “We want mentally ill characters!!!!1” “Characters who have gone through abuse!!!”
but when they actually get a mentally ill character “ nO he is ugly!!! and greasy!!! and he has big nose!!! and he sometimes says mean things!!!!”
or even better, they get characters who react to things or are mentally ill in realistic ways, and then they go “ummmm why are they acting like that….. theyre so rude/mean/weird/creepy”, and then suddenly you remember than most of the people screaming about mentally ill representation are self diagnosed :V
Really, though. I mean, it’s nice and all when something has a character with a mental illness and they get it accurate, but that doesn’t mean the character has to be a great person.
