I've begun to feel a lot of animosity towards women, especially women who claim to be "feminists." I thought it was just because of this website but I've heard people say things in my real life that have been just as disturbing as things people post on here. Like, one girl I know tells me at least once a week about how she'd LOVE to murder alleged rapists without a trial. Another one hates the word "slut" but uses "fuckboy" constantly. Do you have any advice how to combat this?

Don’t. I think people who have double standards just out themselves with what they say, people will notice how crazy or hypocritical they sound and will stop engaging with them on topics where they are spouting nonsense.
I have the same problem with a sibling that talks about politics way too much and thinks she’s aware about what’s going on and blablabla, I keep conversations about politics to a minimum.
No matter the topic, some people just are on a loop, they don’t question their views and certainly don’t like people questioning them, so I would just avoid the hell out of that person, or only talk when strictly necessary.

Be only confrontational with people when 1. it’s worth it (you’re militant about the cause and there’s a possibility other people will listen) 2. you are well-versed in the topic and 3. if you have enough patience. - Horse

I feel like anon was asking more how to combat their unwanted animosity towards women rather than how to combat the particular views of the women they encounter? That’s just more how this read to me…

You might be right about that. Though, my advice in that regard is not one that’s positive, really. Expect nothing but the worst of people, then when they are actually nice/generous/helpful/etc., you’ll be pleasantly surprised by them. And if they’re doing the exact opposite, you have already “called it” so to speak, your hopes are not disappointed. This might be a pessimistic way of seeing things but when you’ve been screwed over by a lot of people in the past, it’s a good defense mecanism. - Horse
