Finally, some empirical proof that the “pink tax” exists.

This is silly. Mic doesn’t even try.

Really, like with the jeans one. I don’t care about the difference between prices because both the men’s and women’s jeans are freaking expensive. Who buys $70 jeans?

However, I’m going to play nice, and I decided to look up Levi’s jeans for men and women. Heck, I looked up the 501 CT jeans for both sexes and then ordered them priced low to high (the same fit you guys looked at). Here are my results.

The most expensive the 501 CT jeans got for women were $129.90 and for men the highest price was $148.90. Pre-sale they were $158 and $198, respectively.

I looked at Old Navy (because I get my jeans there) and here’s what I found:

Then I decided to look at scooters (using Target’s website):

The blue, pink, and red scooters were all the same price. While Target didn’t have that pink scooter from the original “argument”, a quick Google search listed it as being available at Walmart for $24.96, which cost as much as the red scooter.

Looking at uniform shirts available through Target (I decided to look at the Eddie Bauer brand) yielded this:

And while I have no idea why that last shirt costs a dollar less, it might be made from different material or could only run in smaller sizes, thus using less material and costing less. Maybe it’s an error in the price listing.

A look at uniform shirts from a different brand shows a range of prices for both boys and girls shirts, and the boy’s polo in the middle costs more than the girls polos.

The cheapest graphic t-shirts at Abercrombie (I noticed that Abercrombie doesn’t seem to sell the same shirt designs to both men and women):

They are the same prices, both pre-sale and sale. Also, the most expensive graphic tees for women get to $30, while the most expensive graphic shirts for men are $34, and frankly the women get the cuter shirts.

Bladder control products through Rite Aid:

Yes, I know that the women’s product here is only moderate absorbency. Looking at the maximum absorbency products for women and men, the women’s comes with features such as the Dri-Lock Core (locks up moisture and odor), the SureDry layer (keeps skin dry and feeling fresh), and soft side shields for added protection. The men don’t have that in their product. That might explain some things.

For the Alberto Vo5 stuff, let me point out that the $1.99 2-in-1 doesn’t specify what gender it is for. For all you know there are a lot of men and women who use the 2-in-1.

I looked on Walmart’s website at basic Suave shampoo for both men and women.

In conclusion: stop cherry-picking stuff just to advance this stupid narrative of yours.

Rekt.

@micdotcom how does it feel to be wrong so often?

I do not think mic cares about being right to be quite frank
