So basically as I see the sun/moon starter lines (assuming the chinese leaks for the final evolutions are real), these are the awkward stages the pokemon go through:

Rowlet:

1. soft, round, must be protected (is sheltered)
2. learns of internet and drama and shitposts for the sake of views
3. grows up and puts their talents to good use

Litten:

1. troublemaker in elementary school, always getting detention
2. still a troublemaker, this time gets into fights and gets suspended
3. finally decides that fighting is the only thing they’re good at now, and becomes a wrestler

Popplio:

1. un[pop]ular student who just wants to dance
2. makes more effort in becoming a dancer, but is largely ignored and still unpopular
3. hits a stage where they become pretty finally and makes it big and preaches the whole ‘be careful who you call ugly in middle school’
